WATCH: Case opened on leaked photos of Jacob Zuma

Government officials have confirmed that the distribution of the images, which were only taken for filing purposes, will also constitute a criminal offence. The photos have now lead to a criminal case being opened on Thursday.

Chrispin Phiri, a spokesperson for the Correctional Services Department, vowed to ensure anyone responsible for putting these images online ‘would be dealt with’.

Phiri also dismissed claims that Ronald Lamola himself was behind the pictures. Jacob Zuma, now aged 79, was sentenced to 15 months in jail.
