‘Tsha Tsha’ actress Noxolo Maqashalala dies aged 44

Eastern Cape actress Noxolo Maqashalala – known for her roles on Tsha Tsha, Generations and Rhythm City – passed away earlier this week at the age of 44.

Cause of death unknown

According to a friend of the family – Senyukele Zibobo – Maqashalala’s body was found on Friday, 12 March, at her home in Honeydew, Johannesburg.

 The person notified forensic personnel immediately. TimesLive quoted Zibobo as saying, “I received a call from her brother informing me of her death”.

“Someone went to drop off something at her place and realised there was something strange”.

More details to follow

According to Zibobo, “forensic personnel […] suspected she had been dead for almost a week”.

The family will release more details in due course, and arranged for a meeting to place Sunday “to agree on a way forward”.

Maqashalala became a household name in 2003 for her portrayal of Viwe in SABC 1’s youth drama series Tsha Tsha. She also appeared on GenerationsIntersexions, Diamond City and Rhythm City.
