There is no doubt that the ‘Tembisa 10’ story has had more twists than a telenovela, but the latest one is probably the most shocking one by far – Eyewitness News has reported that Gosiame Sithole, the woman who claimed to have given birth to the decuplets, was never pregnant to begin with.
This latest development puts an entirely new spin on the story and prompts speculation that this may have been planned all along.
EWN has cited a “source” who claimed that Sithole was examined by a medical team at the Thembisa Hospital just recently.
“The medical evaluation has shown that there was no pregnancy. It also shows that there are no physical scars to indicate a recent C-section,” the source is quoted as having said.
The news of the so-called ‘Tembisa 10’ being apparently born dominated global headlines and would have earned Sithole a spot in the Guinness Book of Records.
Will we ever get to the bottom of the ‘Tembisa 10’ story?
It was IOL who broke that story, featuring Sithole and Tebogo Tsotesi, the man who claimed to be the decuplets’ father. However, the ‘Tembisa 10’ story would then turn out to possibly fake news after Tsotetsi’s family revealed in a statement that they didn’t believe Sithole had ever given birth to the 10 babies, as initially reported.
When she broke her silence, Sithole dismissed suggestions that she lied about the births, despite nobody having seem them – including Tsotetsi himself.
“No one will force me to reveal where my [10 babies] are. I will reveal their location in my own time, and no one is going to force me to tell where they are,” Sithole said at the time.
Understandably, Independent Media, the company which owns IOL and Pretoria News, would express regret over the questionable story – but they are sticking to it and have even moved to point fingers at the Gauteng Health Department.
The media organisation has insinuated that the department may have hidden the truth behind the births and may have masterminded a cover-up, to avoid being exposed for alleged medical negligence.
It has now been learnt that Sithole was taken to Tembisa Hospital in Ekurhuleni for psychological evaluation, against her wishes.
