It’s back to the podium for self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri and wife Mary, as the couple resume their duties at the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG). The couple took a short break after losing their eight-year-old daughter, Israella.

“My wife and I are delighted to inform you all that we are back from a short break we took from the pulpit following the passing of our daughter, Saint Israella,” Bushiri said to his supporters on Facebook.

“As you would recall, we took some days off to be with the Lord as the Lord was dealing with our faith and faithfulness. We also took the opportunity of this break to be with family”

She died at the end of March 2021, after suffering from a lung infection.

“Israella was a strong young girl who loved to worship and serve God, despite her young age. She was brilliant in her speech and possessed a divine excellency in the way she spoke and even tackled her studies,” Bushiri said at the time of her death.

Shepherd Bushiri thanks people for support

Shepherd Bushiri and his wife have expressed immense gratitude to their supporters for being with them during the difficult period.

“During the break we received beautiful words of comfort and encouragement from every corner of the globe. We do, immensely, value those words as they, indeed, helped us appreciate the depth of the love you have for us”

“We would like to specifically thank our leaders for ensuring that church services, across all our branches in 73 countries, remained intact and vibrant”

Bushiri and his wife fled South Africa for Malawi, in violation of their bail conditions. They, along with three co-accused face charges of fraud and money laundering to the tune of R102 million. They were each released on R200 000 bail by the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court after being in police custody for more than two weeks.

Their bail application in Malawi came on the same day they were set to return to the court for the aforementioned charges.
