It’s been a minute since we’ve mentioned Kate Winslet (The Mountain Between Us), but here she is. The Academy Award-winning actress is teaming up with another Academy Award-winning actress, Susan Sarandon.
You can look for the two playing mother and daughter in the forthcoming feature film Blackbird, an English-speaking version of the 2014 Danish film Silent Heart, reports ComingSoon.net.
Sarandon takes on the role of Lily, a mother and grandmother who is terminally ill. She brings her family together to say goodbye, as she doesn’t want to fight her illness any longer. Winslet plays her daughter Jennifer.
It’s a strange and strained situation, with Jennifer saying in the below trailer, “Jonathan has a hard time talking about it.” With her son quipping back, “Killing grandma? No, I don’t.”
It’s not just hard on the younger generation, but of course for her children, too. You can also look for Mia Wasikowska (Crimson Peak) as Anna, Jennifer’s sister, who plans to call the police to report a suicide attempt, exclaiming, “She’s ready, but I am not!”
Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) stars opposite Sarandon as her husband Paul. And you may recognize The Office star Rainn Wilson as Jennifer’s husband Michael.
While this is sad and heavy stuff, are you keen to see these two on-screen together?
