Four men have been shot and killed in Mitchells Plain at 12:15 on Saturday afternoon, 27 February 2021. In two separate incidents, 13-year-old teenager was killed, and the body of an 18-year-old uncovered.

Here’s what we know.

Mitchell’s Plain shooting: 27 February 2021

According to Colonel Andrè Traut, the incident happened in Maureen Street, Lost City, Mitchells Plain when unknown suspects opened fire on the group and fled the scene on foot.

“Our detectives are probing the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident this afternoon, at around 12:15, in Maureen Street Lost City, Mitchells Plain which left four male victims fatally wounded and one injured”.

The victims, aged 30, 36, 37 and 64 were shot and killed at close range, while a fifth victim, 37 years of age, “escaped the attack with a gunshot wound. The suspects are yet to be apprehended.

Authorities are appealing to anyone with information pertaining to the incident to contact Crime Stop on 086 0010 111. All information will be treated confidentially.

13-year-old teen killed

Saturday’s shooting follows just hours after two teens were shot and killed, and three others wounded in Mitchells Plain in separate shooting incidents.

Traut confirmed that five children – between the ages of 13 and 18 were shot at around 21:00 on Thursday, 25 February, at the corner of Cadillac and Riley streets in Beacon Valley.

A 13-year-old teen was killed and the rest were wounded. Traut said eyewitnesses could confirm that the occupants of a white vehicle opened fire at the victims. The suspects were yet to be arrested at the time of publishing.

“The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage”.

18-year-old teen killed

In a separate incident, Police attended another scene on the corner of Cadillac and Austin Streets Beacon Valley where the body of an 18-year-old male was found with gunshot wounds to his neck.

The victim was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel, and cases of murder and attempted murder were opened for investigation.
