Krugersdorp: Beloved vet shot and killed on her way to work

A beloved vet from Krugersdorp was shot and killed on her way to work over the weekend.

The Bromhof Veterinary Clinic on Monday said Dr. Corli van der Walt (43) was shot and killed in Bell Drive, Rangeview early on Saturday morning.


In a post on their Facebook page the clinic said:

“It is with a very heavy heart that I need to write this to inform our clients that our beloved friend and your beloved vet, Dr. Corli Van Der Walt, passed away yesterday in tragic circumstances.

“She was shot and killed in Krugersdorp on her way to work. Corli has been with the clinic for the past 4 years and she has been such an incredible asset to the Bromhof Team, she is going to be sorely missed. We ask for your patience and support in the next few weeks while we all manage with this extreme loss, our team is devastated and it is going to be a very difficult time ahead for us.”

The clinic said Van Der Walt always went the extra mile.


“Her love and passion for her job as a vet and her care for her patients was exceptional. She always had a smile on her face and nothing was too difficult for her to do. She was a brilliant mentor and even better friend. We have been so blessed to have had her with our team these past 4 years and we will miss her dearly.”

Captain Mavela Masondo, police spokesperson said confirmed a case of murder is being investigated.

“The body of a 43-year-old woman was found inside her vehicle at about 08:00 on Saturday. She had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.”

Masondo said no arrests have been made yet.
