Check Wednesday’s load shedding schedules for Gauteng, Cape Town, & Durban here

With Eskom dishing out load shedding like it’s going out of fashion this week, we’re taking a look at the updated schedules in some of South Africa’s biggest cities. Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Tshwane (Gauteng) have all published their timetables, detailing exactly when the lights are due to go off in each suburb.

Load shedding schedule for Johannesburg

  • Visit the City Power homepage and type in your suburb
  • This will give a direct update on when load shedding is expected for you and your community.
  • You can also get a weekly on monthly overview by using this calendar.
  • Again, if you have your block number memorised, you can check-in with City Power’s Twitter updates:

Load shedding schedule for Pretoria / Tshwane

  • Find your load shedding group by consulting this list.
  • You can view this schedule to tell you exactly when your suburb will get load shedding, on each day of the month.
  • Alternatively, if you’re aware of what numbered group you are in, you can get your updates from the City of Tshwane’s Twitter.

Load shedding schedule for Cape Town:

  • Find what ‘block’ you live in, by using this map.
  • Once you’ve identified which block you’re in, consult the table which features below.
  • Find the correct date, scroll down, and identify which time period your block appears in.
  • You are likely to have more than one block of load shedding on Wednesday, going into Thursday morning.
